Before she knew it, Courtney was on her way to meet up with Justin for the Super Bowl. Typically, when Justin was gone, time crept slowly, but the past few days had flown by. Courtney didn’t think that was a good sign. Keith occupied the seat beside her, but as much as Courtney would’ve preferred to talk with him to pass the time, she didn’t want to say the wrong thing and alert him to her awful secret. So, she closed her eyes and, thankfully, she fell asleep.

When she awoke, Courtney briefly forgot where she was, thinking she was cuddled up next to Justin. She opened her eyes and realized she was slumped over on Keith, drooling on his shoulder.

“Sorry,” she said, sitting up.

“You’re just like Justin,” Keith said, grinning as he leafed through a magazine.

“He drools on you, too?”

“Not lately. But he can sleep through anything.” Keith set the magazine on his lap and glanced around the plane. “This has been the rowdiest flight I’ve ever been on. Everyone is heading to the big game, and somehow you managed to sleep through shouting, chants, and even singing. It’s insane.”

Courtney smiled. Now that he mentioned it, she did notice the atmosphere seemed a little more frat party than business class. “I’m not usually like that. I’ve always been jealous of Justin’s ability to sleep on command. But I’m just so tired lately.”

A woman from the row in front of them popped her head around the seat. “Sorry to interrupt, but you’re Courtney Robbins, right?”

Courtney nodded cautiously, trying to place the woman’s face. On a flight to her hometown, there was a chance she’d run into someone from her high school.

The woman smiled. “I thought it was you. I saw you in a magazine with Justin Erikson.”

Courtney winced, as she did every time she thought of her picture appearing in a magazine. It hadn’t happened often in print, generally just around the time of movie premieres, but online, photos of her and Justin all around town popped up regularly.

“You’re his fiancée, right? Justin Erikson’s?”

Courtney glanced at Keith, who was now pretending to read his magazine, a bemused grin plastered on his face.

She finally nodded, and then briefly panicked, wondering if this woman was going to run to the press and say she was cheating on Justin by sleeping on some guy on the plane. “This is his manager, Keith,” she explained. Keith glanced up, raised his eyebrows as a greeting, then returned his gaze to the magazine.

“Oh my God, so he’s going to be in Indianapolis then, right?”

Courtney hesitated. She didn’t want to blow Justin’s cover by giving away his location and adding one more stalker to the mix, but anyone who knew him could guess that he’d be there. He’d gone to the past three Super Bowls, and this one was in his home state. She nodded.

The woman shrieked. “Okay, so I’m sure you can’t tell me where he’s staying or anything, but can you give me any clue as to where he’ll be? I’m such a huge fan and I’m dying to meet him.
